With all of the hype surrounding the introduction of Chat GPT, a leading AI chatbot, a full investigation of potential capabilities with respect to Search Engine Optimization is necessary. As an SEO Specialist, my goal is to see if this AI assistant has the capability to give a helping hand in any of my ordinary, mundane tasks in my day-to-day personal life and side projects. I specifically feel inclined to run a case study to see if it could help with the tedious process of metadata optimization, keyword research, and content creation.

The verdict: surprisingly, yes, at a low level. I’m confident that as we see competition in this space heat up even more in the next few years, this could be the real deal. Trust me, you’ll want to try this out for yourself.

Content Creation: Can Chat GPT Help?


For the last few days, ever since the Chat GPT launch, my Twitter feed has been full of industry professionals in all types of career fields trying out this new tool. It’s been fascinating to get different perspectives and begin to formulate thoughts as to how I could potentially use this. One thread specifically I wanted to share here.

Zain Kahn had a great Twitter thread going about how AI will permanently change how marketing works, including content creation:


He’s not wrong; as AI advances in the coming years, you are either ahead of the curve or left behind. There’s no in-between. This thread was my motivation to begin my own research. Here’s where I begin:

Virtual assistants can greatly assist with content creation by helping to organize and manage the content creation process. They can help to research and gather relevant information, assist with the creation of outlines and drafts, and provide editing and proofreading services. Additionally, virtual assistants can help to distribute and promote the finished content on various platforms, such as social media and email marketing campaigns. This allows content creators to focus on the creative aspects of their work, while the virtual assistant handles the more time-consuming and technical tasks. As a result, content creation can be more efficient and effective.

Kind of creepy, but pretty cool right? In my field, if you aren’t keeping up with the latest technology trends, you fall behind. I have an obligation to see how this new tool has the potential to revolutionize an entire industry and be on the right side of change. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of me who’s scared about this technology and the negative effects it can have on everyday life. But there’s no stopping it, so I’d rather understand it and use it to my advantage in any way possible. Let’s be very clear: this is just the beginning of how AI will continue to change every aspect of our lives. You see it everywhere; with your Google Home devices, with your video games, with your google searches, with your face ID, with your shopping habits, etc. I could go on and on and on. So why wouldn’t you want to use it to your advantage?

The verdict with simple content creation: Yes, but only as a rough first draft; two or three+ more rounds of editing would be needed until you get to a level necessary for publishing online.

I mean, see for yourself. I wanted 5 variations of a title tag/description for “Corgi Toys in Portland, Oregon” and it gave it to me instantly. This could be a real game-changer here. This is the most helpful case study of the three, as I believe real-time could be saved here when you’re editing hundreds of thousands of pages.

In conclusion, Chat GPT is a game-changing technology that is transforming the way search engine optimization is done.
