Moat Map course overview
Moat Map kitHarbor independent practice

Make an answer worth choosing.

Use AI to sort a venue packet and compare its search data. Check the output, choose a useful page change, then adapt when a source changes.

One fictional project. Finish with a page draft, a sketch and a plan to check and keep it current. The four-hour limit is a fictional budget, not a timer.

Fictional practice: all names, sources and numbers are made up. No employer or client material is used.

The brief

Help a person arrive prepared.

If the companion opens at its beginning, use the module numbers shown. Harbor has no indexing report. For module 6, practise with the fictional URL packet in the free lesson, then use your own report if available.

You help a small local-events publication before its next venue event. The editor wants people to know where to arrive and how to check what they may bring. You have four staff-hours for one primary page assignment, including source verification and a written test/maintenance handoff. This is a scenario constraint, not a promised completion time for learners.

Choose a page and format, including a smaller correction if it serves the task. Account for the known inaccurate entrance advice within the same assignment. Do not assume an extra editor or budget.

The publication can read and verify the supplied public notices and draw original explanatory diagrams. It has no exclusive venue access, completed visitor interviews, accessibility certification, licensed street geometry or exclusive event data. A schematic can describe supplied street/gate relationships; it cannot invent a walking route, distances or a fully accessible journey.

Start with AI. Keep the decision.

  1. Download the initial input below. It contains the complete starting packet, CSV and task prompt.
  2. Attach it in your AI tool and use the prompt. Ask AI to parse the data and compare the source claims.
  3. Check one source claim and one calculation against the evidence below. Correct errors, then choose a treatment.
  4. Ask AI for first-screen words and a box sketch for your choice. Keep your decision and draft in the four fields below.

Use this input, not the whole HTML page or kit folder: later-stage answers are deliberately left out. No AI account is connected to this page. If you prefer, the same evidence supports a manual attempt.

See AI analysis become a source check.

A drawn example shows AI organizing source claims, then a person checking the original notice before using them.

Optional illustrated workflow, using P2 and S2 from this fictional packet. Use it if you want help spot-checking the AI output.

Read the descriptive transcript

From AI analysis to a checked source Silent drawn teaching illustration with fictional Harbor data. This is an illustrated workflow, not a recording of an AI tool or evidence that a model produced these answers. Four packet cards labeled P1, P2, S1 and S2 move into a grouped claim comparison. P2 names West Gate on Dock Street; S2 names East Gate on Mill Lane. Both were checked October 28. The viewer then opens the original S2 excerpt: “During Dock Street works, visitor entry and accessible drop-off move to East Gate on Mill Lane. This arrangement applies until the access notice is withdrawn.” The works condition and withdrawal condition are highlighted. The learner must check whether the notice still applies before using the claim. AI organization is the starting point; source verification and the final decision remain the learner’s work. No later event rule, recommended page format or observed result is supplied.

S1. Venue event notice

For the November open day, bag restrictions will be posted after the safety review. Do not assume restrictions from a previous event apply. General visiting hours remain listed on the visit page.

S2. Venue access page

During Dock Street works, visitor entry and accessible drop-off move to East Gate on Mill Lane. This arrangement applies until the access notice is withdrawn.

No current URL inspection, search-results capture, AI report, conversion report or completed visitor test is supplied. A missing item stays unknown; it is not permission to invent a result.

The initial input contains the starting packet, CSV and prompt. It contains no later source update or worked answer.

Before opening the update

Check the output. Make the call. Draft the page.

Spot-check the AI’s source claim and calculation. Record any correction below, choose the treatment you can defend, then use AI to draft the page for that choice. A panel and a concise linked correction can both work.

Need help checking the AI’s reasoning?

These optional checks compare source claims and possible treatments. They are not a grade.

Check the current source state

Using only the October 28 packet, which page instruction is supported?
Compare the options

Does not fit this source state: Use West Gate and bring a small clear bag, following the existing publication pages and spring account.
P2 and S3 describe older guidance. S2 moves entry to East Gate on Mill Lane; S1 says November bag restrictions are pending.

Fits this source state: Use East Gate on Mill Lane for entry and drop-off; check the event notice because November bag restrictions are pending.
S2 supports the gate and street. S1 supports saying the restrictions are pending. No new dimensions or event hours are established.

Partly fits this source state: Use East Gate on Mill Lane and present Saturday 10am–4pm as confirmed November event hours.
The gate instruction follows S2. P1 gives regular visiting hours, not a separately confirmed schedule for the November open day.

Keep the report within its scope

Which statement describes the supplied query rows without inventing an audience conclusion?
Compare the options

Fits these report rows: Bag-query impressions changed from 80 to 160, with 4 clicks in each period; the directions query has different counts.
Those are the recorded bag-query values in two equal 28-day windows. They do not decide which reader problem matters most or prove why the change occurred.

Does not follow from these rows: The bag-query increase means twice as many people need a new bag-rules page.
Impressions are recorded appearances, not unique people or proof of a missing page. These selected rows do not measure the whole audience.

Does not follow from these rows: Because the directions query has fewer clicks, the accessible entrance guidance no longer needs attention.
A small query count does not remove the consequence of wrong access advice. S2 and P2 establish a factual conflict independently of the search totals.

Choose a credible treatment

Which proposal stays within what this publisher can honestly do? More than one approach can fit.
Compare the options

A defensible candidate: A short arrival panel combining the two notice-based decisions, with a clearly labeled schematic and source-check plan.
It uses supplied facts and the publisher’s stated ability to explain them. It still needs a reason to prefer it over simpler links, a feasible scope and an uncoached task test.

Not supported by this packet: A detailed walking map showing measured distances and a fully verified accessible route between both gates.
The packet supplies street/gate relationships, not map geometry, measured distances or an accessibility assessment. The publisher cannot invent those capabilities.

A defensible smaller candidate: A concise corrected directions notice with clearly named official access and event links, without a new visual feature.
It may resolve the task with less maintenance. Check whether the person can find the entrance and understand the bag-rule status; a bigger design is not automatically better.

Draft the actual handoff

Use a few sentences or a text sketch. Nothing is submitted or saved automatically; download your notes to keep them.

The source update comes next.

Keep your AI-assisted page draft in the four fields above, including what you verified. Then open the changed source. The first version is preserved so you can explain the revision.

Source update — open after keeping your first attempt

A source changes. What changes in your work?

This workbook link belongs to the update stage. Keep your first version before using its Harbor example.

Fictional October 30, 2026: the venue replaces S1 with S1B. This is a disclosed next stage, not a live result or a fact you should have guessed.

S1B. Updated venue event notice

For the November open day, one soft bag no larger than 30 × 20 × 10 cm per person is permitted. These event rules replace previous event guidance. Check this notice before travelling.

Give your AI tool the new S1B notice and your saved first draft. Ask what changes, what stays supported and which exact source words justify each edit. Spot-check that mapping, then decide and write your revision below.

S2 is unchanged. No event hours, construction end date, map geometry, traffic result or visitor-test result has been added. No publication work has shipped; the same four-hour primary assignment remains available.

Worked comparison — open after drafting your revision

Compare the reasoning, not the wording.

A smaller source-linked notice can be a better choice than a larger panel. These are possible worked outputs, not a required strategy or an observed learner result.

One first answer

While Dock Street works continue, use East Gate on Mill Lane for visitor entry and accessible drop-off. The November event's bag rules are not confirmed in the supplied notice yet. Check the venue's current access and event notices before travelling.

After the source update

For the November open day, the venue permits one soft bag per person, no larger than 30 × 20 × 10 cm. Check the current event notice before travelling.

A smaller alternative

A concise corrected notice with the two official links might serve the task just as well with less maintenance. That is the first alternative I would test against the panel, not a deliberately poor comparison.

What the task test should reveal

Ask a person to identify the entrance, explain what they can confirm about their bag and locate the official notice. Before S1B, they should recognize uncertainty; afterward, they should keep the rule specific to the November open day. A proposed test is not an executed test.

Review your own artifact

Keep the first attempt and revision separate. If you opened these explanations before your attempt, treat the result as guided practice rather than an unseen test.

Keep something you can use.

Download your recommendation and revision. For a page you independently control, name the reader decision and the source or observation you need before building. Do not substitute this fictional venue's facts for your own evidence.
