How to read the table. Change in Sep: the site's search clicks in September compared with August, Google and Bing together. Share from Bing: the part of those clicks that came from Bing. Last 4 weeks: the last four weeks against the four before, engine by engine, so you can see where a site is heading before the month ends. Too few to tell: under 50 clicks in both months, too few for a percentage to mean much.

Age is time in search, from a site's first appearance in Google or Bing to Oct 16, 2026. A few sites I don't name here are counted in the all-site totals and the group shares, so the rows don't add up to them. In a site's month by month, the blocks count the changes I logged that month by kind (what they were stays private), and Google and Bing show that month's search clicks compared with the month before. Search moves for plenty of reasons, so it lines the two up without claiming one caused the other.

AI answers

Visits come from Google Analytics, and citations from Bing's AI Performance report, which I export by hand, so they end Oct 11, 2026. A citation is an AI answer naming one of my pages, whether or not anyone clicked through.

  • September, compared with Augustdown 14%visits from AI assistants: people who came from an answer in ChatGPT, Copilot, Perplexity, Claude or Gemini (Google Analytics)
  • August, compared with Julydown 22%visits from AI assistants, the month before that, for comparison
  • September, compared with Augustup 46%Bing AI citations: times a Bing AI answer named one of my pages as a source, clicked or not, the latest complete month in Bing's export

The Google charts count how often a site's pages showed up in Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, from Search Console's Generative AI report, clicked or not. I export it by hand, so each chart carries its own date. 3 sites have enough months to chart. Title Town PDX and The Quack Report follow their teams' seasons, so their change from one month to the next follows the calendar as much as the site; each case study reads them by season.

Visits from AI assistants down 14% in September; the best month is still May.

How people read

Scroll depth shows how far people go down a page. Active time shows how long they stay. Pages per visit shows how many they open. September against August. As a site reaches more people, these often slip a little; my guess, not something this data shows, is that newer readers are less committed than the first ones. People scrolled less on 3 of the 5 sites I can compare with the month before, by 2 points or more. I count smaller moves as flat. From Microsoft Clarity, through , complete months only, leaving out the days a known Clarity bug flagged.

How these numbers stay honest

A wrong number is worse than no number, so the misses sit next to the wins and anything I couldn't recount stays off. Same rule as the rest of my work: never ship a wrong fact.

  • Every percentage matches the raw Search Console, Bing and Bing AI data, or the update doesn't go up.
  • Sites that fell sit in the same tables as the ones that grew, with the same math.
  • Trends are percentages, so every site reads on one scale; records are the real count.
  • Trends compare whole months; the "Last 4 weeks" column and the dated leaderboards use recent windows and say so.
  • Left out: the month in progress, growth since launch, and direct visits, which mostly look like bots.
  • Google numbers can run about 1% under the Search Console screen, Bing AI citations end Oct 11, 2026, and visits through DuckDuckGo and Yahoo aren't counted.

Where the numbers come from. Google Search Console, Google's report of the searches that showed my pages and the clicks they got; Bing Webmaster Tools, the same report, from Bing; Bing's AI Performance report, how often Bing's AI answers (Copilot, Bing's AI summaries and partner sites) cited my pages; I export it by hand; Search Console's Generative AI report, how often my pages showed up in Google's AI answers; I export it by hand; Google Analytics, visits, including the ones an AI assistant sent; Microsoft Clarity, how far people scroll and how long they stay.

How I build checks like this one, and the mistakes behind them: how I keep my sites accurate.

This dashboard, held to its own rules

The same rules the sites above are measured by, applied to the page and the site it's on.

Whole months only
The newest month here is September 2026. The month in progress isn't counted until it closes. Data through .
Every chart and table dated
Each one carries the day its data runs through, so nobody has to guess how old a number is.
This site on its own dashboard
Not yet. It went live , and a month counts only when it's complete, so its first row can appear once November 2026 closes.

A wrong number is worse than no number, and that includes a flattering one about this site.

Where did you see that number?

Every headline number on my other pages, with the page it's on and when its data ends. Find the figure you saw and tap it to see what it counts, where it comes from and how it's counted. 13 figures on 10 pages, the newest data through .

Each headline figure on the site, the page it's on and the date its data runs through. A figure opens what it counts, its source and window, and how it is rechecked

The recount can't read those sources on its own yet, so I leave them out instead of calling them rechecked.
